Triceps in pain during bench press

I am stuck with 90lbs (15x4) on my BP because I get a very sharp pain on my triceps (the part nearest to the elbow) when I increase the weight. Before the pain was coming from my left triceps, now it's on my right.

Any ideas on what may be causing this? I know I can lift more if I get over the sharp pain on my triceps.

how's your grip? you might wanna try to widen it a bit. but ofcourse, i would definitely prefer to rest that body part for a week or so.

I watched some videos on proper form in BP and you are correct, I need to widen my hold of the bars. I used to hold it much closer before that's why my triceps were hurting at higher weights. Thanks.

wag mo isagad, pag tulak mo dont lock your elbow sa top, para din ma maintain ung pressure sa chest, and wide mo unti para minimal ang pag gamet ng triceps,

Oh ok, I guess that's one mistake sinasagad ko pataas. Will do it right next time for higher weights. Thanks.

ayun, actually ganyan din sken nangyayari... pero i  it.. kasi parang kasabay nag iimproved ng chest ko is yung tri's and delts ko... when doing inclined kasi, mejo nagagamit ko ng husto yung shoulder, which is may pros & cons pala... pero anyway, both ways is good padn.. kaso yun nga lng, pag improper tech. may injury, hoping sana muscle pain lng po yan sir sean, not injury... follow nlng dn po yung advice ng mga masters, ako din pala... hehehe need mag adjust, para ma lessen yung soreness sa tris after doing BP...

I started working out again after resting for 3 days due to DOMS in my legs.

Finally got my technique right in BP. Widening my grip on the bar did the trick. I had no pain in my triceps and I could lift more. Excited to improve on my BP.

    Thanks for the tips guys!

dapat di lang triceps ang icheck mo dapat pati delts mo kasi delts/triceps
mostly nagsusuffer pag mali ang grip, width and form ng benchpress.

  • close grip bench press is better on training your triceps
wide grip bench press for your chest

ahh pwede ren pala sir, akala ko kasi pag sinabing close grip, yung paghawak sa bar ay yung thumbs nakagrip din, tas open grip kung hindi nakagrip yung thumb =)
