i prefer both, why? because they target different muscle groups.

SLDL is mainly for hamstrings/leg workout, conventional DLs ar mainly for back and a lil bit of glutes and quads. like i've said they target different muscle groups so hindi sya "substitute" for each other if that what your gym trainer is trying to tell you. i do know that for tall people w/ weak prosterior cores some trainers recommend sumo DLs for the time being before letting them do conventional DLs, but for SLDLs as preparation for conventional DLs? Hmmmmm... that is news to me i dunno though, maybe koya @[BraSo] and @[Mighty_Oak] could chime in about this?

@boss DS thanks a lot for your comment, I've been enlightened by it, SLDL is a leg workout and a CDL is a back workout. Thank you again for clarifying it to me sir.

    cheers!!

i do SLDL and leg curls alternately on leg day tapos CDL on back day. oks lang ba yun?
  • DSmallDivideDSmallDivide Posts: 4,565
yep oks lang yun, SLDLs are for legs after all i have stopped doing leg curls now and replaced it it w/ glute ham raises instead, CDLs are definitely for back unless magkasama ang leg and back workouts mo in your split, thats gonna be kinda difficult at least for me ha. hehehe

actually for me ha ATG squats or good mornings hits my hams/glutes better kesa sa SLDL for some reason. SLDL strains my back really bad, perhaps my body can't really adhere to it's strict form lalo na sa heavy poundage.

ok ser this is noted, hehehe, try ko rin minsan yung atg squats at good mornings. pero as of now maganda pa effect saken nung SLDL hindi naman masakit sa lower back but i will be really careful of doing it nalang. thanks po ulit boss DS.

    Nasabi na ni DS.

i agree with your trainer. start in learning the CDL (conventional) muna. Kase yung SLDL madali lang mamaster.

Besides, even CDL hits your hammies to some extent
