Mild Scoliosis

share ko lang mga sir..

past 3 weeks sumakit yung right shoulder ko kaya nagrest muna ko.. nanyri narin to dati sa left shoulder naman.. kaya ginawa ko uminom lang ako ng gamot na ininom ko dati for 2wks.. nung medyo ok na pero me konti pain nagbuhat ako last week monday medyo heavy kaya kinabukasan bumalik ulit yung sakit..

so i decide to consult the doctor and have xray.. na diagnosed tendinitis(inflammation of tendon(litid)) wla naman nakita problem sa xray namamaga lang daw kaya binigyan ako gamot..

pero monday this week bumalik ako for followup chekup.. nakita ko rin yung isang result ng isa pang xray sakin.. nakita dun na may 8degree Mild Scoliosis daw ako.. yun ang badtrip kasi balak ko mag 5x5 program kaso pinagbawalan ako ng exercise like squats, deadlifts specially yung over the head exrcse(military press) pati nga jogging bawal daw tsk

8 degree scolio is far from 20 degree na kelngan ng brace.. pero nakakatakot lang din baka lumala pero nakakainis lang may restrictions yung workout ko..

Im no expert, to be honest i dont know squat bout scoliosis. but just dokt give up and keep lifting, take small steps and improve gradually. Im sure lot of people have overcome more severe injury than what you have.

to be honest, you can't force yourself to lift heavier weights, you can still lift but not as heavy as you can.. it will hurt yourself and maybe worsen your condition, scoliosis pa naman yan, nag ccurve ang vertebrae mo, kaya talagang bawal sau military press na sobrang bigat.

sorry to hear this bro.. i feel your disappointment and frustration... but do not let this hinder your physical activity... you can still exercise but there are parameters due to your condition...

you can ask your doctor or referred phy-therapist on which exercises you can do and avoid.. but i doubt if your doc would recommend any...

nevertheless, be conscious on your posture for now... kahit naka upo, tayo or higa. it is also normal that you would feel one side of your body is stronger than the other.. least thats what my client (with scolio) says kaya we normally do uni-lateral exercises.

im no expert when it comes to training clients with your condition, i still coordinate with the doc, physio and other professionals as what programs i can provide.

dont let this bring you down... the more that you should be motivated in working your way around this.. habang bata ka pa... G-luck bro!

hi dudes ok na may nag post ng topic na ito... alam ko may scolio din ako kc nung nag take ako ng required medical check-up for freshmen sa UP yun ang sinabi sa akin ng doctor na may mild scolio ako at bawal daw lifting....after 5 years eto buhat sa gym pa rin... pero minsan pag nag squats ako parang notice ko na medyo nag arch yung torso ko to the right....kaya bibili na ako ng lifting belt at last....

    Calling sir @ vinch...
  • pain where? usually people with spine/back problems experience discomfort rather than pain. if hindi ka aware na may problem ka na sa spine common mo mararamdaman is low back pain at discomfort during prolonged sitting/standing. pero wala sya symptoms that comes and goes.

  • last pacheck ko is 14 degrees, but that was almost 2 years ago. hindi nako sure ngayon considering na mas heavy na bubuhat ko kesa dati.

It was evening, tapos bigla nalang daw siyang sumigaw at umiyak sa sobrang sakit sa likod.

Isa pang katanungan, does scolio has an weakening effect on lower back strength?
  • better have it checked bro, pa xray mo para makita kung may curvature na nadedevelop. sa kwento mo, mukhang possible magka functional scolio ka just like most girls.

about sa low back weakening... IMO any imbalance you have will have a negative impact on your strength. Im not saying that it will weaken you but it will definitely limit your strength gains. Ok, given na yung current strength mo at this point, will scolio weaken your current DL or Squat? mentally siguro pero performance wise i dont think so. Ngayon, kelangan mo na magincrease ng poundage at may scoilio ka... let's say 20lbs sa squat (10lbs each side). here's the problem,

    1. @20lbs increase: your legs can push the weight but your lower back cannot handle the load

so, you drop the poundage by 10lbs

    2. @10lbs increase: your lower back can tolerate the load but too easy for your legs

Scolio weakens you by holding you back :)

Need to ditch that loads of stuff on that shoulder bag...
    We'll it's still can be fixed, I hope I don't end up like a train-wrecked car...
