Thalassemia here

Yes I have this thing on my blood. Thalassemia is a blood disorder passed down through families (inherited) in which the body makes an abnormal form of hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. The disorder results in excessive destruction of red blood cells, which leads to anemia. Ectomorph here, common na ang nose bleeding sa amin (literally pagdurugo sa ilong).

Bullying, yes galling ako dito. “Si bangkay naka-oxygen” – when I used that damned brand of t-shirt, so I never used it since then but nakadikit na sa pangalan ko yang bangkay na yan. lolz

Resting Heart Rate 80 BPM and always tired and fatigue. I can’t last a cardio exercise for 3 minutes, my heart beats like shit at nakakakita ako ng mga laman lupa ( Green na tao , Red na bagay-bagay, Blue na paligid :arghh:)

I’m 5”10’. Below Pics January 2013 at 65 kilos (takpan din sa parting baba bumakat e), and the other two somewhere in july 2013.

Is there anyone like me here? If there is, any advice with the supplements since iron is like a poison to our blood? Folic acid na lang ba habambuhay? Hehehe. Reseta ng hematologist pambuntis ang peg.

I’m planning to pick up whey protein and multivitamins w/o that much iron content.
Iron overload? Magpapa-blood transfuse na lang ako at chelation therapy pag nangyari yun. I update ko na lang journal pag nag-take ako whey saka multivitamins. Consult muna sa hematologist. :P.
Mga Hematologist jan ano po masasabi nyo para malibre naman ako sa PF?

Started with the 8lbs ea dumbbells and copied some instances on youtube.
Military Press, DB Press, Bent over, Side Lateral, Lying Lateral, Seated Row, Bicep Curl , Hammer Curl, DB Front Raise ,DB front lunge, DB Squat, DB DL all for 10Reps 3Sets every day and it works for me with proper resting and timing 3weeks straight ( bakit araw araw? newbie po :P )

Now I already get my pair of dumbbell 20lbs ea, 3 times a week na lang ako mag train kasi na feel ko na din ung DOMS na tinatawag nila nung bumili ako ng 20lbs. Saka nakakaaliw kasi nag-gain na me. Kahit maliit yung gains nakakatuwa pa din. Heart Rate too early to tell the diffrence kasi sobrang hingal pa rin but I’m getting 4set na. Masarap din tulog at pikiramdam after WO.

This is my 8th week na and magdagdag ako ng mga 10lbs plates ea on my 9th week.

Planning 5x5 this End of October. Tapusin ko muna goal ko sa bahay na DB 40lbs para naman hindi ako pagtawanan sa GYM, baka magkaron ako ng bagong pangalan na “lampayatot”.

Diet? chicken, beef, oats, itlog, peanut butter, fish na ang nasa listahan ng grocery ko. Ok din kasi nagiging healthy na yung lifestyle ko.

Dito ko din natutunan mag-compute ng macros ko para malaman ko kung ilan ang kakainin ko, ayun akala ko madami na akong kinakain kulang pa pala. Thanks.

Goals
1) Overcome my hereditary disorder (Thalassemia)
2) Maging part na ng daily routine ko
3) Gain Muscle kahit paunti unti

    Omg brah. Bad condition you got there but at least you have the courage to try and overcome your handicap. I applaud you!

    But talk to your doctor first and have his opinion, maybe you can workaround this. If he gives you the go signal we're here to help!

    Boss pano yan bawal ka din sa mga beef products like steak etc. dahil mataas iron contents ng pagkain na yon? Wag ka mahiya sa binubuhat mo boss wala namang mag cocomment sa gym unless pink dumbells binubuhat mo lol.
  • Galing! crazy stuff man. congrats ngayon palang taking that step. Kung hindi mo kaya mag cardio for up to 3 minutes hangang ngayon, feeling ko mahihirapan ka mag adjust sa 5x5 pero kayanin mo yan, slowly but surely mate, napaka nakakapagod mag barbell squats. Sana ma overcome mo yan man. Good job and good luck!

    No worries hindi naman nagmamadali.

    Advice naman ng hema mag exercise ako kasi para magcirculate maigi yung dugo ko kasi malapot daw
    at kabisado ko naman daw katawan ko kung kaya pa o hindi, sa tingin ko kaya pa naman.

    Wala naman sinabi sa pagkain na bawal. Direct Vitamins lang naman sinabing bawal.
    Tanong ko na lang ulit kasi kumakain naman ako ng beef lalo na pag nasa probinsya.

    Mag aadjust na lang ako kung paano ko i-execute yung 5x5 =)
    I love DB squats kasi sarap nya sa front legs (hamstring ba tawag dun).

    ewan ko pero feeling ko lumalakas na din strength & stamina ko kasi nadagdagan ko na sets nung binubuhat ko at parang gumagaan na din. mabilis ko na natatapos yung reps ko. mind over matter ba or progress talaga?

    Nag gain me almost 10 lbs within that 9week pala. 69 Kilos na me

    at naninniwala ako na kaya ko to para naman makatulong or makapagbigay info sa mga kagaya ko.

  • At this point, you will benefit from both. personally, i would go for pendlays but you can switch it up if you want every other week :)

    Tama yan, instead na gawin mong reason not to workout yang condition mo e gawin mong motivation.

    I salute you for choosing the right path.
    Naniniwala ako na maganda ang magiging benefit ng pag eexercise sa condition mo.

    Kaysa naman may ganyan ka na, couch potato ka pa.

    I got Lower Back Pain on my DL and Row. I think i need to endure this since I just started.
    DOMS on calf which sagabal sa squat ko . Tama ba pag insert ko calf training or once a week lang? TIA

    SL modified ko na since kailangan i-adjust para sa status ko. Hindi kaya ng Heart rate ko pa ung intensity masyado.
    Not sure of standing calf raise, insert ko lang since advice sa kin ni boss vinch to train calf.
    Any suggestion po sa raise?

    Kung may time kang basahin yung journal ko. Ganyan din yung program ko at kung paano ko ipapasok yung Standing Calf Raise.
    I did it heavy based 8RM, for 2 sets/(HEAVYx8x2), twice a week during Mondays and Fridays. With 10lb/wo incrementation. Parang pendlays din.
    May tempo din akong sinusunod, 1sec up two secs down.

    IMO, sobra na yung 5sets dahil nagagamit din yan during your squat and pendlays(though, hindi masyado dito, pero kung strict form ka, mapapansin mo). Remember na taxing sa CNS ang mga program like 5x5 kung ang na-set mo sa umpisa na subjective difficulty eh heavy. Isa pa you're doin' it three times a week, apektado din dyan spine mo. Pagpahingain mo din!

    Isa pa, pinagpapalit ko din yung Standing sa Seated every now and then(every one to two program cycles) dahil heavy-very heavy na'ko sa squats.
