I was about to a few years back but a serious injury got in the way then I moved to QC which was too far from my team so I have set it aside for now.

    Nice numbers by the way!
  • doyouevendoyoueven Posts: 129
Well are you still injured? The last comp was in novaliches, not really that far from your place.
  • Mighty_OakMighty_Oak Posts: 3,940
Yes. It has been a recurring injury (most likely hip impingement) and it's getting frustrating. Join us in our training sessions one of these days if you're available.

  • JettieJettie Posts: 3,763

  • doyouevendoyoueven Posts: 129

And naturuan naman ako nila sir mighty at sir ds and others during group workout hehe..Application and naniniwala naman ako na hindi naman agad agad matutununan yung correct form and technique to lift :)

Pero yan din ang primary goal ko to gain strength and secondary na lang yung body physique..

NON-SENSE! Sabay dapat to if you ask me. Besides those na nasa heavyweight/super heavyweight category, lahat ng mga malalakas batak din. HAHAHA

Anyway, you might not believe me or whatever but I don't think SL 5x5 is optimal. I built my strength using Rippetoe's program and I think it would make you stronger than stronglifts. The extra 2 sets don't add anything other than a cool way to market the product (5x5 sounds more appealing then 3x5, 4x5, or 6x5). And yes, I tried stronglifts, stalled at 200x5x5 but after I switched to 3x5 I got up to 305x5x3 before developing my own system now.

    Just my .02

okay lang yan ser..malayo pa naman ang game na ito for me. Besides, it's a long term goal hehe for now tatapusin ko muna SL 5x5 then gotta switch to something newer. I can't really compare oranges to apples since before, i started lifting and I just found the SL 5x5 and after I joined this group, they introduced to me newer program if I want to switch things up.

I never bought or subscribed to Mehdi lol just tried the basic set up on SL 5x5..

Tho, recently I downloaded Mark Rippetoe's SS 2nd ed ( torrentz 100% ) basa basa muna then choose whatever hoping would work on me. I am thinking if SS or Wendler 5/3/1 to use on my next set up and I believe those two program would hit the spot.

Oh btw, sir what I meant about that post above you quoted sir is that I am not conscious like some guys who always think about their physique. Yes, I believe when you can lift heavy weights, it means you have good muscle gains. It's just that I am enjoying reaching my goal when it comes to big ass weights since our kanto gym has some fuckarounditis guys who just lift and doin' the most ever popular "every day is upper day" syndrome.
  • doyouevendoyoueven Posts: 129
SS is definitely the way to go. I also think it is safer for the average population. Basically same lang siya With stronglifts but I guarantee you 100% that you would be able to lift more while not really giving anything up with regards to muscle gains.

Saka binibiro lang kita kanina haha

Do we all really think the same way regarding Mehdi? LOL

Same sentiments Bro, Mehdi is a joke and nothing but a netrepreneur! Just copied Ripp's program!

di ba, a great physique is a side-effect of gaining strength ?

I mean, strength gain comes from increased muscle mass, right ?

bro, pwede pa-share ng actual training program mo ? ang lakas mo, your squats and deadlifts are already above 2.5x of your bodyweight. elite ka na

Or maybe we're just bitter we didn't think of his idea in the first place! haha

Yup, a great physique is a side-effect of gaining strength but without proper diet you'd either be a fatass or burnt out because you're not taking enough food to fuel your workouts.

And no, strength gains don't come from increased muscle mass alone. As I've said in an earlier post, pag nakita mo ko di ako mukhang nag-gygym! And to be honest I fucking hate it hahaha, everyone wants to be jacked and tan. If you deny it, you are fucking lame. After I break the records at my class, I might move up in weight to finally look like I lift LOL

Thanks but I'm not even close to elite. Magulo training program ko, combination ng Starting Strength/Texas Method/RTS/Westside/Block Periodization/Linear Periodization that I fit into my liking (google mo na lang kung curious ka haha). But, the majority of my strength came from Starting Strength and Texas Method so if I would recommend a program to someone that wanted to be as strong as possible in the fastest time those would be it.
